Indian Veterinary Association, Keralais always instrumental in working towards continual improvement of our profession through setting up appropriate platforms for scientists, academicians, researchers, students, field practitioners, wildlife experts and veterinarians associated with allied sectors for providing insights into recent trends and strategies to face the challenges in the current period. It is the largest professional organisation of veterinarians working or residing in the state of Kerala with around 2200 member veterinarians at present and units in all the 14 districts of Kerala and two veterinary colleges under Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University.
Several activities are undertaken by the association for capacity building and information sharing. These include Kerala Veterinary Science Congress, Continuing Veterinary Education programmes, ContinuingFarmer Education programmes,leadership camps,commemoration of important days like World Veterinary Day, World Zoonoses Day and World Rabies Day as well as the Annual Convention of Veterinarians of Kerala. We could secure the international World Veterinary Day Award during 2020 instituted by World Veterinary Association and Health for Animals for the world's best association in embodying the theme of World Veterinary Day – 2020.
Indian Veterinary Association, Kerala is also devoted to promote scientific veterinary practice with high standards of professionalism and ethics for the preservation of animal and public health. With this objective in mind, let me inform you with pleasure and this year, we are organising our prestigious annual event, Kerala Veterinary Science Congress during 13th and 14th November, 2021 on the theme “One health-A strategic imperative for veterinary profession in fight against the pandemic”. From 2010 onwards, the event is being conducted annually. Despite the restrictions imposed by COVID 19 pandemic, last year we conducted this unique scientific meet in a hybrid modeand it was a huge success. This year, we are conducting Kerala Veterinary Science Congress 2021 in hybrid mode with main venue at the College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Mannuthy.
Whole hearted support and co-operation from all are expected. The programme will span for two days. There will be scientific papers presented by national and international speakers and eminent scientists and also an exclusive session for practicing veterinarians.
